On April 20, 2021, within the framework of the international environmental campaign "March of Parks – 2021", employees of the Almaty aviation department planted tree seedlings.
Historical background
The history of this environmental action dates back to 1840 in the United States. One of the residents of Nebraska decided to green the state. This idea was happily accepted and at first called this event as "Tree Day". But in 1970, the holiday was renamed "Earth Day". Since 1990, the campaign has received international status and covered the entire planet under the name "March of Parks".
Kazakhstan has been celebrating this day every year since 1996. And in 2010, our country has its own symbol of the "March of Parks" - a tulip. This flower is a symbol of the steppe expanses of Kazakhstan, spring and rebirth.
The "March of Parks" is a holiday designed to raise the prestige of the nature reserve business, it is a way to involve people in the environmental activities of nature reserves and national parks, to awaken in the minds of our compatriots a sense of pride in our national heritage. Ecological balance is a necessary condition for the survival of mankind.
The balance is based on the huge diversity of landscapes and living organisms, the radical transformation of landscapes, the destruction of habitats on Earth in the process of evolution. However, in recent centuries, under the influence of human activity, the natural course of ecological processes has been disrupted.
Overexploitation of animals and plants, pollution of the environment lead to a sharp reduction in biodiversity and even to climate change on the planet. Thousands of species of living organisms have either already disappeared from the face of the Earth, or are on the verge of extinction and are listed in the Red Books. The loss of any species with its unique genetic fund, unique features of life and relationships with the surrounding world is irreplaceable and leads to a violation of the integrity of the natural complex. The more ecosystems lose their ability to function normally, the less sustainable the ecological balance becomes. People are increasingly aware of their dependence on natural processes. The creation of nature reserves, national parks and other protected areas is one of the most significant steps towards preserving the amazing diversity of wildlife-the source of life that depends on us.
