On August 22, 2020, on the territory of state reserve lands, in the buffer zone of the 108th quarter of the Karkaralinsky forestry, the Karkaralinsky SNPP, a steppe fire was discovered with a threat to the State Forest Fund. Due to unfavorable weather conditions (wind 8-10 m / s, gusts 12 m / s) and significant grass cover, the fire was rapidly developing along the front and flanks. Conditions were created for the transition to the forest area with a front of 2-3 km. Taking into account the speed of the fire, its intensity, area and other factors, the method of extinguishing the fire was used - the organization of a counter fire.
Additionally, a mineralized strip was laid by tractors. The forces and means of the Kazavialesoohrana RGKP, the Karkaralinsky State Scientific and Production Enterprise, the Karkaralinsky OCHS, the Karkaralinsky Akimat, and voluntary fire brigades were involved in extinguishing. After a long and stubborn struggle with the fire, the spread of the fire deep into the state forest fund was stopped. The fire was localized on a total area of 3242 hectares of GZZ, including SFF 22.9 hectares (split forests). At the moment, the fire has been stopped, guarding is underway. In total, more than 120 people were involved in the localization of the fire, including 7 paratroopers-firefighters of the Karkaraly aviation department, 15 pieces of equipment, a helicopter.
